Autumn Herbal Weekend

The Spring Herbal Weekend offers classes and activities to help harmonize you with springtime, traditionally a time of cleansing and renewal.  Programs will offer tips, lessons, and suggestions for cleansing the body, particularly the liver, and receiving the full rejuvenating benefits of the season.  Herbs discussed include blood-cleansing and liver-cleansing herbs like Dandelion and Burdock.  Like these two, many herbs are can be used in spring salads and for cooking as well as in special herbal preparations.  Programs will help participants learn how to used these healing herbs and will touch upon other considerations like diet and activities.

Herbal & Holistic Harmony with the Season (Springtime)

Springtime is the season of renewal and rejuvenation.  Traditionally springtime is an ideal time to cleanse the body, especially the liver and gallbladder.  This class will discuss vernal dietary suggestions, healing herbs like Dandelion, Burdock, and Sorrel, and other considerations for the season.

Origin of the Shamrock and Other Irish and Celtic Herbal Lore

In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day we will explore the lore and medicine behind the shamrock and other plants from Irish tradition.  Many herbs commonly known to modern herbalism came to use through Irish herbal traditions, such as commonly known herbs like Dandelion, Burdock, and Nettles.

Forest Bathing (Shinrin-Yoku)

Join The Lodge at Woodloch's Certified Forest Bathing experts for a slow and contemplative walk that will focus on keeping the body and mind in the present while teaching techniques for deep breathing, mind-body awareness as well as taking note of the little miracles of the forest.  Shinrin-Yoku, otherwise known as Forest Bathing was coined in Japan and growing research shows that there is a marked decrease in stress-related hormones, a decrease in heart rates and lower blood pressure among other monumental benefits.
