Employee Volunteer/Charity Efforts
PENNIES FROM HEAVEN Caleb’s foundation – Nichole Mitschele Granville (daughter of Robin Mitschele from The Lodge at Woodloch’s Restaurant) created this foundation, with the help of her family, after her son passed away. PENNIES FROM HEAVEN financially assists families in need so they do not have to leave their sick child’s bedside.
Miles for Melanoma – Jocelyn Gebhardt (from The Lodge at Woodloch’s Human Resource Department) will run in the St. Luke’s half marathon to raise money for Melanoma Research. She is running in honor or her mother.
Cancer Research Events – Robert Kiesendahl and the Kiesendahl Family founded BK Hope Cures in 1999. Through fundraisers and community functions, BK Hope Cures is able to donate to many Cancer Research Groups, including Susan G. Komen for the Cure, The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center & Lance Armstrong’s LIVESTRONG foundation.
Farm to Table
The Farm-To-Table Garden will provide a selection of the vegetables and herbs that will be used at TREE Restaurant. Garden programs throughout the year, with a focused Garden Week in August, will give guests an opportunity to have a hands-on gardening experience with our Master Gardener and her team. The Lodge hopes to open this area to the local community for workshops, demonstrations and community gatherings.
Our Master Gardner, Alison Peck, is working on creating an all Organic Farm. In addition to not using pesticides, our organic practices include companion planting, promoting beneficial insects, cover cropping, seed saving, rotation planting, composting, and the use of organic materials to build the soil. Alison, with the help of her team, shares these organic practices during the yearlong garden programs.
Wildlife View Area
The Lodge at Woodloch’s Wildlife Viewing Area will be the go to spot for excellent wildlife viewing on property. Expected to open in 2014, this area will be home to a covered overlook which will allow guests access to see the environment in its natural form. The Lodge hopes to give the local community and schools access to this area to explore the importance of wildlife conservation.
Green Lodging Partnership
We are a proud member of the Delaware Highlands Conservancy Green Lodging Partnership. Guests staying at The Lodge can opt to have a $2 donation added to their bill which will go direction to the Conservancy. The Delaware Highlands Conservancy assures that all the special places, scenic beauty, and outdoor recreational opportunities that bring out to the Upper Delaware River region will be here for you now and every time you visit.

Green Spa Network
The Lodge at Woodloch is working with the Green Spa Network to help bring sustainable practices to the Spa industry. The Green Spa Network shares resources and training tools to encourage sustainable operating procedures.

- Light bulb recycling program
- Through Waste Management's Single Stream recycling we recycle cardboard, plastic, glass, and paper
- Water and detergent conservation by suggesting guests to reuse towels and linens
- Compostable hot and cold cups property wide
- Composting program to ensure a constant supply of fertilizer and food recycling
- Environmentally friendly cleaning supplies
- Battery Recycling
- Buying locally produced and organic products whenever possible (view the Farm to Table Garden section for information on how we grow our own herbs and produce to supplement purchasing from local vendors).
Support for Local Parks and Wildlife Areas
The Lodge at Woodloch supports local parks and wildlife areas through donations and sponsoring events. These areas include Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary and Prompton State Park.
The Lodge at Woodloch’s Outdoor Adventure team donated Cross Country Skis and hosted demonstrations during Prompton State Park’s Winter Trails Day, which is in conjunction with a national event.
American Red Cross
After Hurricane Sandy devastated parts of the Northeast in October 2012, The Lodge at Woodloch donated a portion of revenues from the month of November to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
