Alicia Shook has always had a passion for animals, especially horses. While attending college in pursuit of a degree in Sociology, she started working at a local riding stable helping others learn how to ride and handle horses. It was during this time that she decided to take her career to a new level and pursue a degree in Equine Management.
After graduating from college and with her Equine Management education complete, Alicia opened her own horse training facility, Urban Stables, located just a few miles from The Lodge at Woodloch on her family's property. Not only did she board other horses at her farm, but she gave lessons on how to ride, handle and interact with the gentle giants. For over 20 years, Urban Stables was the place to go to learn all about horses.
As a practicing yogi, Alicia began incorporating her yoga teachings into her riding sessions. Since horses are an incredibly perceptive animal, by teaching her students how to become more aware of their own bodies, movements and energy, it allowed them to develop a better bond between themselves and their horses.
Alicia sold her business in 2009 and continues to be a part of the team at The Lodge at Woodloch, teaching many MindBody Classes including yoga. She is able to share her passion and determination for wellness and now horses. Alicia was a key player in the development of the Unbridled Bliss program at The Lodge at Woodloch.
