David Katz - Chef in Residence Series - September 19th and 20th
In 2008 Chef David Katz opened the cult-fave restaurant Mémé (pronounced MAY-may), a casual restaurant in Philadelphia named for his grandmother. The restaurant allowed him to welcome his guests the way his family welcomed theirs - warmly and intimately. It had style but remained unpretentious like a favorite diner. And most important, it featured the kind of food his Jewish-Moroccan grandmother would have approved of. After deciding to “hang up his apron” to concentrate more fully on family he started a new direction with Creekstone Farms. David is an outspoken chef that speaks just as loudly with his talents in the kitchen. His tendency toward seasonally-inspired New American cuisine stresses simplicity, but every dish bears the signature of a master craftsman.
