Dogfish Head Weekend - September 11th-13th

The story of Dogfish Head began in June of 1995 when they opened Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats, the first state's first brewpub opened in the resort beach community of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The plan was to bring original beer, original food, and original music to the area.
Not only was Dogfish Head Delaware’s first brewpub, it was the smallest commercial brewery in America. Their very first batch, Shelter Pale Ale, was brewed on a system which essentially was three little kegs with propane burners underneath. Brewing 12–gallon batches of beer for a whole restaurant proved to be more than a full time job. When the doors to the pub first opened, they brewed three times a day, five days a week! The one benefit to brewing on such a small system was the ability to try out a myriad of different recipes. They quickly got bored brewing the same things over and over – that’s when they started adding all sorts of weird ingredients and getting kind of crazy with the beers!

The Dogfish Head Craft Ales Weekend allows guests to take a deep dive into the ingredient flavors of each of the selected ales.  Having additional knowledge at the ingredient level allows a new depth of tasting each unique brew.  In addition, the heart-felt story behind each ale is shared on an intimate level with the guest showing the care and passion that Dogfish Head takes with the development of each of their ale series.

Guests will experience a Craft Beer Awakening in this specialty weekend of off-centered ales and unpretentious luxury.  From September 11-13, Dogfish Head connoisseur Wendy Domurat will host beer tastings, a pairing dinner, a bitters walk with Master Herbalist Nathaniel Whitmore (which will feature a surprise tasting from Sam’s private cellar) and informal get-togethers at The Lodge at Woodloch.

This weekend has become one of our favorite annual events!  Join us and find out why.
