Full Snow Moon

February 9th
Because we take our cues from nature, we have developed a Full Moon Series for 2020. Each month, we will pay homage to the beauty & wonderment that each unique full moon brings.

Since the heaviest snow falls during this month, native tribes of the north and east called February’s full Moon the Full Snow Moon. Some also called it the Full Hunger Moon, since harsh weather conditions made hunting difficult.

Full Moon Yoga: This yoga practice will calm the mind and draw your awareness inward. Moon Salutations are useful when energy is high and a tranquil, quiet presence is required. All Levels Welcome.

Full Moon Snowshoe: Join the Outdoor Adventure team on a moonlit snowshoe through our tranquil wooded 500 acres. Breathe in the crisp evening air and enjoy the natural sounds as we  tune out the chaos of life and tune in to the tranquil symphony of nature.  Your Full Snow Moon journey will conclude with a cozy campfire and s’mores.  A perfect ending to a relaxing day!

Pen and Ink Drawing: Enjoy a class of dipping a quill in liquid ink to achieve the look of snow.  No experience necessary! All are welcome, just bring your creative spirit!

Talk about heart rate training - But heart-rate training uses—you guessed it—your heart rate in beats per minute (bpm) or a percentage of your maximum heart rate as a guide for intensity. Outdoor: Feel Your Heart Beat
Rhythm of the Forest: Like us, the trees and other beings have a heartbeat. Our Naturalist will take you on a short walk to discover the natural rhythm of the forest. As we listen to the sounds around us, you may just find your heartbeat.

Tusten Mountain Hike: Get your heart pumping with an invigorating hike! This 3 mile hike offers challenging uphill terrain and traverses rocky outcroppings to a vista overlooking the Upper Delaware River. The landscape includes abandoned bluestone quarries and glacial erratics. Bald Eagle sightings near the river are not uncommon year round. Total Travel Time: 60 min., Hiking Time: 2 Hours.

Creative Discovery: Heartfelt Family Pebble Art
Using river bed pebbles, dried flowers, sticks and other natural items, create an artistic representation of your own family on a canvas. Celebrate the love you have for your family while getting in touch with the artist within you.
