At The Lodge at Woodloch, we believe beauty and wellness is a three-legged stool. This month, we will focus on the Body portion of the Mind/Body/Spirit trifecta. Skin care, DIY spa treatments, special yoga and fitness classes, and beauty products will all be highlighted during this month of pampering.

Full Flower Moon

May 7th    
Because we take our cues from nature, we have developed a Full Moon Series for 2020. Each month, we will pay homage to the beauty & wonderment that each unique full moon brings.

In most areas, flowers are abundant during this time thus the name of May’s Moon. Other names include the Full Corn Planting Moon, or the Milk Moon.

Full Moon Yoga: This yoga practice will calm the mind and draw your awareness inward. Moon Salutations are useful when energy is high and a tranquil, quiet presence is required. All Levels Welcome.

Dimensional Wall Art: Let us celebrate the May Full Flower Moon by creating handmade flowers on canvas.  No experience necessary!  

Full Moon Forest Bathing: Join The Lodge at Woodloch’s Certified Forest Bathing experts for a slow and contemplative moonlit walk that will focus on keeping the body and mind in the present while teaching  techniques for deep breathing, mind-body awareness as well as taking note of the little miracles of the forest at night. Shinrin-Yoku, otherwise known as Forest Bathing was coined in Japan and growing research shows that there is a marked decrease in stress-related hormones, a decrease in heart rates and lower blood pressure among other monumental wellness benefits. Come and enjoy the healing powers of the nature that surrounds us while appreciating the Full Flower Moon.

Author, Gifted yogi, spiritual teacher and inspiring Medium, Alaine Portner has been making a difference in the lives of thousands across the United States for the past 30 years. As the founder of Yoga Center of Medford, NJ, Alaine has finely tuned her ability as a Medium and fused it with her passion for meditation to offer a unique and transformative experience. After completing 4,000 readings in four years, she shared the transformative experiences in her book, Medium Memoirs, Messages of Love, Hope and Reunion. A remarkably sensitive Medium, Alaine specializes in receiving messages from loved ones or guided spirits and then delivers life-affirming insight and direction. Those who have encountered her style, typically feel a sense of euphoria, connection and supportive change in their perception on their personal or professional journey. Alaine’s engaging manner, humor and straight-to-the-heart insight has provided her with a loyal following. She has achieved the highest level of skin care certifications as a Master-level esthetician with a CMEM license, qualifying her for advanced skin care measures. Sue is a thought leader in the field of skin health. She is a leading provider of medical-grade peels and device therapy at Skin Sense Spa, the premier medical spa of Anthony Sparano, MD. Sue has a passion for patient education with a primary focus on the relationship between skin health and nutrition. Sue is committed to educating patients and communities on the most effective means of achieving their best skin. Sue has attended numerous, select conferences with the leaders in her discipline, acquiring advanced education in peel and device therapies.

Stephanie Roman, Body Acceptance Coach

May 29th - 31st
Stephanie Roman is a Body Acceptance Coach, speaker and workshop facilitator in the NYC metro area. Having struggled for many years with dieting and body shame, it's her mission to support her clients in embracing the bodies they have now, so they can live their fullest lives with courage, confidence and authenticity. She guides her clients in listening to their body's intuition in order to figure out what holistic wellness means for them individually.  Stephanie's clients benefit from reasonable and sustainable wellness recommendations, together with enthusiastic coaching and gentle accountability.  She is grateful to have had many opportunities to speak on Body Acceptance with audiences ranging from fashion week participants to cancer recovery groups.  In her free time Stephanie enjoys being outdoors, frequenting the theater, volunteering, and engaging in lively conversations over chai tea.

Body Appreciation in Daily Practice

Our bodies are with us every moment of our lives, how can we show care and appreciation for these magnificent vessels that are too often shamed and taken for granted? This discussion will focus on why body appreciation is essential to your self-care practice and easy steps to integrate appreciation into your daily routine. 


Month-long Features: 
Fitness: Happy Face Chi Gong
We exercise our bodies to stay fit, but often forget that we can also exercise our facial muscles to keep our faces youthful and radiant. In this class we’ll learn a simple routine that combines acupressure with fun (and funny) facial exercises to relax and nourish our skin and eyes as we reveal the beauty and grace of a happy face.

Spa: Face Yoga with Ann Marie Nitti
Face muscles are small and thin so when exercised they restore faster than the bodies larger muscles.  In this fun class, work your facial muscles to increase circulation, enhance collagen production, and promote lymph drainage for a more radiant, youthful glow!  

Outdoor Experience: Edible and Medicinal Plant Walk
Join Heather, our Certified Herbalist, for a walk along one of Woodloch’s woodland trails to discover the edible and medicinal plants that can be found not only throughout the region but in your very own backyard. Heather will share helpful hints for proper identification, as well as easy and efficient methods for harvesting and preparing these plants at home. Allow Heather to answer any plant questions you may have. There will be many stops along the way to meet the plants, so be sure to bring your camera and a notepad for taking notes.
