At The Lodge at Woodloch, we believe beauty and wellness is a three-legged stool. This month, we will focus on the Body portion of the Mind/Body/Spirit trifecta. Skin care, DIY spa treatments, special yoga and fitness classes, and beauty products will all be highlighted during this month of pampering.

Dara Goodman, Artist and Art Educator

May 14th - 16th
Dara Goodman is an artist and Art Educator with 17+ years of experience in teaching.  She attended Boston University's prestigious College of Fine Arts, majoring in Sculpture with a minor in Art History, and received her Masters of Fine Arts in Studio Art Education.  Dara has exhibited work at the Faye G, Jo & James Stone Gallery in Boston and has taught classes at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.  Her artwork in 2d, 3d and mixed media forms focuses primarily on celebrating the curves of the human female figure and how we are all connected by our ties of coming from mothers or mother figures; she is mainly inspired by the work of Henri Matisse and Gaston Lachaise.  Dara currently lives in White Plains, NY with her husband and two sons.  She is a New York State certified art teacher and teaches for the Rye Neck School district in Mamaroneck, NY.  She is passionate, enthusiastic, and inspired by all that surrounds her, loving to share that with others.  She teaches people of all ages in person and remote every chance she gets.  She believes that every person has a creative spirit that needs to be awakened, nourished and cultivated through the art making process.

Friday, May 14th
Contour Line Portraits
8:30pm
Inspired by the flowing lines of Matisse, participants will create beautiful portraits focusing on the use of line and proportions while developing the skill of using contour lines and sgraffito in an artwork.  Simple, flowing lines will create contours and form of the human face and/or body using mixed media on canvas (paint, pencil, chalk, etc.) Cost is $10 per person.

Saturday, May 15th
Dream It, Draw It
8:30pm
Based on the “Robe Series” by Pop artist: Jim Dine, each member of the class will create their own composition of a “dream robe” using line, shape, and color. Using a mixed media format ex: paint, chalk, pencil on canvas, members of the class will create their own interpretation of a “dream robe”.  Final works will celebrate color, shape, line and composition using cropping and visual elements to create their own robe on canvas.

Christina Daigneault, Certified Aromatherapist
May 28th - 30th
Christina Daigneault is a certified aromatherapist, beauty product formulator, and co-author of PLANT-POWERED BEAUTY, a best-selling book that unlocks how to harness plant-based ingredients for health, wellness, and beauty.  She has been featured in Glamour, Origin, MindBodyGreen, Well+Good, Eco Beauty Editor, Healthline, New York Magazine, and Mantra Yoga + Health. Christina leads natural beauty events nationwide, including her Beauty Bar innovation, and recently toured Whole Foods Markets/Whole Body for Beauty Week.  She is also the founder of Orchard Strategies, a wellness-focused public relations firm, and is an attorney-mediator dedicated to peaceful conflict resolution.

Join the co-author of Plant-Powered Beauty, Christina Daigneault, to learn how plant-powered ingredients can heal and beautify the body, mind, and spirit.  Interact with botanicals and then be transported on an aromatic journey with a line-up of plant-based ingredients.  The first evening will focus on essential oils that are known to help relieve stress and calm the mind, and the second evening will feature essential oils celebrated for their cell-regenerative and skin healing qualities.  Participants will leave with a better understanding of how essential oils are made, their therapeutic qualities, and insight on how to incorporate them into beauty and wellness routines.
