Heather Houskeeper, Certified Herbalist
August 14th
Heather Houskeeper, “The Botanical Hiker,” is an herbalist, forest therapy guide, and forager. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, along with certifications in herbal medicine, botany, taxonomy, and forest therapy. A long-distance hiker, Heather has traveled thousands of miles on trails—including the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine—identifying, exploring, and foraging wild plants along the way.
These journeys have deeply inspired her work with plants as food and medicine, as well as her role as an herbal educator. Since 2010, Heather has guided others into the natural world through plant walks, herbal workshops, and seminars. She is the founder of the School of Plant and Place Connection, an herbal medicine school dedicated to cultivating kinship with the natural world.
Heather is the author of three plant-inspired books and serves as the Wild Food columnist for Dirt Magazine. She believes that plants are a conduit for connection to the living world, and that by attuning to nature, we can foster both individual and collective wellness.
