When he was 37, Jeff Tkach became seriously ill and feared he might be dying. The seventh doctor he consulted told him he could “farm” his body back to health. Unsure of what that meant but willing to try anything, he followed that advice—and began a journey that transformed his understanding of health, food, and agriculture. Along the way, he discovered how deeply human health is connected to the health of the soil that produces our food. That realization opened the door to a broader understanding of how food is grown and the critical role farming plays in our lives, leading him to explore the economic, political, and cultural impacts of agriculture and connect with countless others embracing these same truths. Today, Jeff serves as CEO of Rodale Institute, a global leader in the regenerative organic farming movement. His work—and this movement—is grounded in a simple but powerful belief: the farm is here.
